Information For Witnesses

You might get nervous when we call or leave a business card.

You’ve never had a private investigator contact you and you’re aren’t sure what’s going on. If we’ve contacted you, it’s likely because you’re a witness for a legal proceeding. Our job is to uncover the facts, good or bad, of a particular situation; not to get you in trouble.

You may feel like you don’t want to be involved. While you are not required to talk to us, if you have been identified as a witness, you may be subpoenaed to testify under oath in court. One of the reasons we seek to interview witnesses is to potentially avoid having to subpoena them to testify.

Sometimes, we want to speak to witnesses who have been told by someone they aren’t allowed to give their side of things.

It is against the law for anyone — including other parties in a case, your landlord, or your employer — to threaten you in any way if you speak to or agree to speak to us, or try to influence what you say as a witness. This may include threats of being fired from work, being evicted, or any other punishment.

If anyone has prevented or tried to prevent you from speaking to us, or has tried to get you to change your testimony,  please call us in complete confidence at 780-469-0129.

If you have been threatened with any form of physical harm or property damage for agreeing to speak to us, first call 911, and then call us.
